Luke McClyman as Select Director

Iowa Rush North is excited to announce Luke McClyman as the Select Director for all 11-19U boys and girls select teams.  Luke will oversee and manage the coaching, organization, and communication for the 11-19U select program.  As part of the Select Director’s responsibilities, Luke will ensure club standards and provide a streamlined approach to scheduling, programming, and guest playing opportunities for players within the select program.

Luke McClyman joined the Iowa Rush staff in the Fall of 2020.  Prior to joining the Iowa Rush staff, McClyman coached two years in Madison, WI for the Madison 56ers and spent 5 years out in Grand Junction, CO coaching for Fire FC where he helped with Division 2 Colorado Mesa University Men's and Women's teams as a volunteer.  McClyman was also the Men's Assistant coach at Wartburg College for 2 years.

As a native of Iowa, Luke played his club soccer at CRSA, his college soccer at Wartburg College and he also played for the Des Moines Menace.

McClyman has his USSF C License, as well as his National Youth License.

Additionally, Luke McClyman, James Price, Kirk Artist, and Jen Young will be taking a collaborative approach to leading Iowa Rush North Soccer Club into the future.

James Price will continue as the Technical Director and will focus his abilities within the new 9-10U Academy, Iowa Rush Edge (1st-3rd graders), and Kicks4kids (3-6 year olds)

Kirk Artist will continue as the Iowa Rush Technical Director that will oversee Iowa Rush North.

Jen Young will continue as the Iowa Rush office manager that processes registrations, website, and communications.

While these coaches and administrators facilitate the direction of the club, the head and assistant coaches, volunteers, players, and parents are the heart of the club.  Iowa Rush North will continue to lead soccer in the area with quality coaching, soccer, and fun for all players.

Iowa Rush North Programs

Iowa Rush North now has a pathway for all players from 3-19 year old (open for registration now):

What should I register my player for at Iowa Rush North?

Kicks4kids (3-6 years old) - For boys and girls between the ages of three and six, the Kicks 4 Kids Intro to Soccer program provides the ideal environment to have fun while learning the basics of soccer. Led by the experienced Iowa Rush North coaching staff, kids enjoy dribbling, shooting and learning basic soccer fundamentals through fun games, drills and positive interactions with the Iowa Rush North competitive player volunteers.

Iowa Rush Edge (1st-3rd graders) – For boys and girls 1st through 3rd grade, emphasis will be on manipulating the ball and learning how to create space with the ball. Sessions will be 30 minutes of technical work and 30 minutes for games.

9U-10U Academy - The 9U/10U Iowa Rush North Academy program acts as a pre-cursor to the Iowa Rush North Select program.  The Academy program tethers the recreational program to the select program by providing an additional step with weekly training by professional staff as well as competing in the Eastern Iowa Youth Soccer league.  Iowa Rush North offers the Academy option with the intent of providing players with the opportunity to play with and against players of similar ability/commitment, where they will experience the most enjoyment and success.

The 2020-2021 Academy program is open to any player (boys and girls born between 2012-2013) who have a desire to further develop their soccer skills and receive professional training.  Special requests for players playing up must be approved by the Academy Director, James Price.

11U-19U Select – TRYOUTS OPEN – Starting June 7th - The Iowa Rush Program is a comprehensive approach to developing players and teams. We have a progressive, tangible Player Development Philosophy that is ball focused, player centered and age appropriate. Coaches are guided by a methodology that is sport based and educationally sound, with age group guidelines and curriculum based on national and international concepts appropriate for each age. Tournament selection, scrimmages and league play are selected with ability, gender, travel distance, club goals and collegiate exposure in mind based on each age group.
